From the beginning of history, there has been a universal fascination with the representations of the human face! Many of the greatest and most endearing works of art
ever created are the paintings of Portraits!

Using Photoshop and Corel Painter X, you will learn how to transform your Photographs of portraits into paintings that replicate the traditional styles of the Old Masters. Oils like Rembrandt, Impressionism like Monet, Photo realism like Norman Rockwell and even Cubism like Cezanne and Picasso!  From Fays special signature style of blending an image, to the recipes that Fay will share with you to use with your Auto Photo Painting Pallets, Learn to paint in the different portrait paintings styles of the Old Masters up until the style of today ...... contemporary and more !!!

In the 1800’s, with the introduction of the camera, artists moved beyond portraitures of the traditional realistic style of painting, and started to explore new approaches ranging from brushwork of impressionism to the fractured vision of cubism to the vivid colors and brushstrokes of expressionism ,pop art and more......
In this workshop Fay will teach you various ways that you can transform your photos of "The Portrait", into the different styles of the Old Masters.  We will learn to interpret high key portraits to be painted as watercolors and low key images as classical portraiture for the heirloom Canvas Oil Painting!  From the detailed work of Rembrandt, to the traditional style of Vermeer, to the brilliance Fay Sirkis Girl In Redof Monet, Fay will explore with you the many ways of representing the painting of the Portrait! One of best-known portraits in the world is Leonardo da Vinci's painting, the Mona Lisa, which is a painting of an unidentified woman. Join Fay as she explores the secrets behind the Sfumato technique of painting.  Sfumato is the style in which Da vinci painted the Mona Lisa, and some of the most famous faces in art history were painted this way as well.  Fay has created new brush categories that replicate the brush strokes of the Old Masters, (special SFUMATO BRUSH for the face!) that will help you achieve dramatic results in your paintings! You will receive these brushes in a workspace, as a gift to use in class and to take home with you, when the workshop is over.

In this workshop, Fay will teach you a uniquely simple and logical approach to "Oil Portrait" that is based on the time-honored techniques that have been used traditionally for centuries. She will demystify the process of painting a realistic Portrait, with her new special "Portrait brushes.

Photo Painting requires the ability to understand and interpret your subject into the different styles of the Masters.  Learn to take the technique used in traditional painting, and apply it to the Art of the Digital Portrait!

Portrait Painting requires far more than just dragging your brush around your canvas. By working from the photo, students will rigorously engage the principles of portrait painting in the classical realistic tradition.

You will learn Techniques to accurately capture a likeness, handle paint strokes, emphasize the Fay Sirkis Dream Girleffects of light and shadow, model structural form, which the students will follow from a "face map" that Fay has created especially for the portrait painting of the face, that will help with the direction of the brush strokes.

The blending of lifelike and different complexions will be covered in great detail. Each step-from preparing the foundation of the face, to applying the final highlight-will be thoroughly demonstrated and explained. These lessons can be successfully applied to any painting style.

The emphasis of this course is learning by doing ....... that is what is great about hands on, especially in Portrait Painting! Don’t miss the opportunity to paint portraits with Fay looking over your shoulders, where each student gets the personal attention that they need!

From retouching your image in Photoshop, to applying your paints and blending them in Painter, to the final printing process, including tips on marketing your paintings! You will learn how to transform your photos into beautiful works of art!

Most of the time that is spent on the Portrait is concentrated on the painting of the eyes. The eyes
always hold a story; they are the windows to the soul within! Fays primary focus is to capture the character and vitality of her subjects, and it all begins in the eyes!  Using Photoshop is easier than ever, with Fay’s step by step formula, on how to retouch and give life and soul to the eyes of your subject.  You will learn to retouch the eyes of men, women, children, and even mans' best friend! Different scenarios of photographed eyes will be covered... indoor, outdoor, and more. Black and white images will be covered as well.
