Get control of the digital negatives on your hard drives and memory cards using
Adobe Lightroom and the Bulletproof Archiving System. Learn how to rename, enhance and add the information (metadata) to your RAW or JPEG digital photographs using Lightroom to create and manage a truly bulletproof archive that can survive hard drive crashes, fires, floods, hurricanes and the Apocalypse (ok not the Apocalypse. All of the others though.)

“What will you miss having most?” The answer reporters receive almost universally from evacuees of fire, hurricanes or floods is “Our photo album and all the memories.”  Almost everything lost in a disaster can be replaced except photographs made over a lifetime. In today’s digital world the loss of images of our lives Kevin Amesneed never happen no matter what nature throws our way.

The memories of a lifetime, homecoming, parties, graduation, vacations, marriage, births, first steps—the list is infinite, are now stored on hard drives. Hard drives offer an easy and seemingly solid means of storing digital photographs. Unfortunately this is at best a false sense of security. The truth is every hard drive will fail eventually; most likely destroying all of the data--your photographs for instance--on them. Compounding the problem is that most of us have these precious memories on several hard drives. The challenge is to consolidate your digital negatives, catalog them and make bulletproof copies.

Professional photographer, author and digital photography guru Kevin Ames shows how to use Adobe Lightroom to manage and make a bulletproof archive in this Lepp Institute five day workshop. You’ll learn how to use Lightroom to import the hundreds or even thousands of photographs on multiple hard drives and from memory cards, how to add information about groups and individual photographs to make finding them in some future time a snap, (“Where are those photos of Sarah when she was three?”), and how to make perfect permanent copies. This workshop is a must for anyone who takes pictures—pro and amateur alike.
