To be able to create a landscape painting that generates the same intense emotion in someone who views the painting as they would, when looking at the landscape live is both inspirational, and very, very gratifying!

Using Photoshop and Corel Painter X, Fay will show you how to transform your images of Landscapes and Seascapes into paintings that replicate the former Masters of our time.

In this workshop Fay will demonstrate a variety of styles that can be employed in rendering landscapes and seascape, with special attention to features of terrain, trees, clouds, sky, rivers, ocean, to the effects of weather and seasonal changes, and much more.

The variety and intensity of greens that occur in nature is quite awesome. Learn the different shades of green that exists in landscapes, and changes depending on the time of day.

In this hands on Workshop Fay will explore two distinct styles of painting to transform the photograph of the landscape and nature into. The techniques of the Old Masters and the Impressionist movement.

The Old Masters and the Impressionistic style, offer great painting adventures!

When using the technique of the Old Masters, you will learn to simulate the brush strokes of the Oil Painting. Fay will show you how to use her signature technique that she developed with her new "NATURAL" brushes (that will be given to each student as a gift!) from the single flower, to a total garden ...... from a beautiful waterfall, to a roaring ocean.

When using this technique the luminosity and richness of oils are ideal for many scenarios of capturing the beauty of nature! Using Fays new Brushes, watch as your painting comes to life!

The Old Dutch Masters carried their Paintings to a rather extreme level of detail. Some Art History books indicate that they painted in seven layers, allowing each layer to dry completely before continuing. In strict adherence to this process, drying time took up to seven weeks for each layer. Not anymore! Learn to use Fays "Digital art studio" to bring out great detail in your paintings without having to allow for drying time!

Learn to transform your paintings in the style of the Impressionists! Fay will show you her new technique of painting the "wet-into-wet" method.

By working wet paint into other prepared, wet areas, (learn what this means in digital) blending and creating color right on the canvas (computer) as you paint, the results are breathtaking!!!

The Impressionist Claude Monet was known for painting the same scene again and again, in different lights, seasons, and moods. A class project will be given, with weather permitting, to go to a local scenic area (many beautiful places to photograph nature in Los Osos, too many to choose from!), to capture the same scene in different times of day and then back at the lab, to transform the photos captured, into a series of paintings!

Nature provides us with many, many different scenarios that can be captured and painted. Clouds, water, waves and weather are in continual turmoil in landscapes and seascapes, moving and churning through sequences of varying aspects. Learn the different ways to use THE BRUSH STROKE to create different moods and to capture it in your painting!
