About the Course

The most powerful, flexible, nondestructive and streamlined workflow imaginable? It's the Photoshop CS3, Bridge AND Camera Raw application of Adobe's new nondestructive Embedded Original/Smart Objects/Smart Filters technology. And even though many "Smart" capabilities (like how to bring in all your global photo editing done in ACR - even to JPEG's! - directly into Photoshop as Smart objects) may not be the most intuitive, once understood, they will give you the ability to do the vast majority of your photography magic on one or two simple layers in Photoshop - including your raw tonal adjustments, black & white conversions, tinting, retouching, filtering and even expressive enhancing - without ever permanently altering a single pixel of your embedded original photograph! Jack will also show you how to take all this image magic and apply it to dozens of other photographs instantly - without altering your originals or needing to run Actions.

 What to Bring

We recommend that you come prepared with the following items for this course:

  • Yourself, ready to learn and work in a digital darkroom!
  • Your digital SLR camera. The Lepp Institute is located on California’s beautiful central coast and there is time before and after class to create images.
  • About ten to twenty of you’re own images (preferably digital files - make sure CD's, flash drives or portable hard drives can be read by Windows machines) to work with during the course.
  • If you need them, a good pair of both reading & regular glasses.
